Advanced breast cancer in post menopausal women w/ oestrogen receptor +ve &/or progesterone receptor +ve.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult including elderly 1 mg tab once daily.

Overdosage

View ATZ overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Co-administration w/ oestrogen-containing therapies. Concurrent tamoxifen therapy. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min). Moderate or severe hepatic disease. Pre-menopausal women. Pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions

Biochemically define menopause in any patient where there is doubt about hormonal status. Reduction in bone mineral density w/ a possible consequent increased risk of fractures. Formally assess bone mineral density by bone densitometry in women w/ or at risk of osteoporosis at the commencement of treatment & at regular intervals thereafter. Not to be taken by patients w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be observed when driving or operating machinery due to asthenia & somnolence. Not recommended in premenopausal women & childn.

Adverse Reactions

Hot flushes; asthenia; arthralgia/joint stiffness, arthritis; headache; nausea; rash, hair thinning (alopecia), allergic reactions; diarrhoea, vomiting; somnolence, carpal tunnel syndrome, sensory disturbances (including paraesthesia, taste loss & perversion); increased ALP, ALT & AST; vag dryness & bleeding; anorexia, hypercholesterolaemia; bone pain, myalgia; hypercalcaemia (w/ or w/o increased parathyroid hormone); increased γ-glutamyl transferase & bilirubin, hepatitis; urticaria; trigger finger; erythema multiforme, anaphylactoid reaction, cutaneous vasculitis (including Henoch-Schonlein purpura); SJS, angioedema.
