1 g aerosol contains: Neomycin (as Neomycin sulfate) 1338.22 IU & Bacitracin 103.80 IU.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Colloidal Anhydrous silica, LPG mixture (propane/butane: 80/20), Pentane.
Pharmacotherapeutical Category: Antibiotic.
VIOPLEX-T combines the action of neomycin and bacitracin and is used exclusively for the topical treatment of bacterial skin and mucosa infections, for injuries susceptible to infection, as well as in operating procedures. The additive action of both antibiotics of the product and its efficacy towards all Gram (+) and Gram (-) microorganisms has been established. This combination provides great safety as far as the development of hospital staphylococcal infections or epidemy of the so-called "epidemic strains", that is, group I staphylococcus, or group III enterotoxinplasts and other types of high pathogenicity is concerned.
VIOPLEX-T is comparable to known broad spectrum antibiotics in the field of antimicrobial efficacy and it has the advantage over them due to its evident antimicrobicidal efficacy. Since it is not practically absorbed, high concentrations of the active ingredients may be achieved at its efficacy point thus avoiding the development of microbial resistance. The product's antimicrobial efficacy does not abolish the pus or necrotic tissues from the blood plasma. Due to the non-absorption of its active ingredients there are neither side effects nor contraindications regarding its use. In addition, no incidences of hypersensitivity or toxic incidences have been observed. Enzymes that may affect its action are not known.
Surgical procedures: Locally preventive in post-operative and other wounds, in skin abrasion, skin transplantations, 1st and 2nd degree burns of restricted extent, dehiscences of furuncles and abscesses.
Dermatology: For local treatment of trophic ulcers, stasis dermatitis, bed sore pressure ulcers, chronic infected dermatosis such as eczema, dermatomycosis.
Since there is no definite dosage scheme the administration method and treatment duration will be based, per case, on the physician's judgment. However, it should not be applied more than three (3) times per day.
Administration Method: Shake the canister well before each use. Spray onto the infected area from a distance of 20-25 cm. The canister should be kept at an upright position during spraying. For the prevention of the risk of cold burns appearing three (3) sprays of three (3) second duration each with an interspace of thirty (30) seconds are allowed.
Note: In order to remove the remains of the active ingredients that may be left on the valve at the end of use, turn the valve upside down and empty it by spraying until only clean propellant gas starts to shoot out. The valve re-closes air-tightly. The canister is then capped with the special protective cover.
ATTENTION: Do not open the canister violently. Do not spray near a flame. Discard of the canister only when it is completely empty. Do not throw the canister into a flame even when it is empty.
No cases of overdosage have been reported.
Hypersensitivity to the drug, history of toxic reaction.
Only for topical cutaneous application.
Attention during administration: Prolonged use may result in overgrowth by non-susceptible organisms or fungi.
In cases of extensive wounds, ulcers or burns or cleansings there is a greater possibility of systemic absorption thus causing nephrotoxicity or ototoxicity.
Effects on the Ability to Drive and Operate Machinery: It has not been reported.
Administration During Pregnancy and Lactation: It does not affect.
Sensitivity to neomycin manifested as an allergic reaction with local reddening, edema, pruritus and non-healing of the wound. Rarely, following systemic absorption, skin exanthemas, nephrotoxicity (proteinuria, cylindruria, azotemia), muscle weakness from neuromuscular block.
VIOPLEX-T may intensify the toxicity of aminoglycosides when administered in cases that favor systemic absorption.
The drug should be stored at a cool place. The canister is under pressure. Do not place it near radiators, do not expose it to light or at temperatures higher than 25°C.
D06AX04 - neomycin ; Belongs to the class of other topical antibiotics used in the treatment of dermatological diseases.
