Dosage/Direction for Use
Take pms-ENTECAVIR exactly as prescribed. The healthcare provider will tell how much pms-ENTECAVIR to take. The dose will depend on whether the patient has been treated for HBV infection before and what medicine he/she took.
Usual dose: The usual dose of pms-ENTECAVIR tablets in adults and children over 16 years of age is 0.5 mg to 1 mg once daily by mouth. The dose may be lowered or the patient may take pms-ENTECAVIR less often than once a day, in case of kidney problems.
Take pms-ENTECAVIR once a day on an empty stomach to help it work better. Empty stomach means at least 2 hours after a meal and at least 2 hours before the next meal. To help the patient remember to take pms-ENTECAVIR, try to take it at the same time each day.
Do not change the dose or stop taking pms-ENTECAVIR without talking to the healthcare provider. Hepatitis B symptoms may get worse or become serious if the patient stops taking pms-ENTECAVIR. After stopping pms-ENTECAVIR, it is important to stay under the healthcare provider’s care. The healthcare provider will need to do regular blood tests to check the liver.
When the supply of pms-ENTECAVIR starts to run low, get more from the healthcare provider or pharmacy. Do not run out of pms-ENTECAVIR.
Missed Dose: If the patient forgets to take pms-ENTECAVIR, take it as soon as remembered and then take the next dose at its regular time. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time. Call the healthcare provider or pharmacist if unsure of what to do.
