Drug Interactions
Patients should exercise caution before taking this medicine if they are taking: fluorouracil; antibiotics; some indigestion remedies (edible clay and antacids containing aluminium or magnesium); preparations containing zinc such as vitamins or food supplements (may be important in pregnancy); cholestyramine; sulfasalazine; triamterene; antiepileptic medicines such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone, sodium valproate, carbamazepine or a barbiturate; methotrexate; lithium; aspirin; any other tablets or medicines including those obtained without a prescription.
Some antibiotics (trimethoprim and sulphonamides, sometimes combined as co-trimoxazole) reduce the effect of Folda. All antibiotics can interfere with Folda blood test results.
At least a two-hour gap should be allowed between taking Folda Tablets and indigestion remedies.
Patients should exercise caution before taking this medicine if they: drink alcohol; need to breathe a gas and air mixture to put them to sleep for an operation or to relieve pain while they are awake.
