Cream Fusidic acid 2% w/w, betamethasone dipropionate 0.064% w/w. Oint Na fusidate 2% w/w, betamethasone dipropionate 0.064% w/w
Indications/Uses
Inflammatory dermatoses, psoriasis, where bacterial infection caused by Staph & Strep are present or likely to occur.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to fusidic acid & its salts; betamethasone dipropionate or other corticosteroids. Viral skin infections (eg, vaccinia, varicella & herpes simplex), TB, acne rosacea, fungal skin infections, perioral dermatitis & ulcerative condition.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment in case of overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, or if irritation or sensitization develops. Do not use in or near the eyes because of the possibility of conjunctival irritation. Avoid long-term continuous topical therapy. Safety during pregnancy & lactation has not been established. Do not use in childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions (rashes, irritation); local adverse reactions (burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruption, hypopigmentation, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria); symptoms typical of hypersensitivity of the adrenal cortex w/ moon face, sometimes w/ hirsutism, buffalo hump, flushing, sometimes leading to Cushing's syndrome.
Drug Interactions
Antagonized effect of ciprofloxacin. Complex interactions w/ penicillins (either antagonized effect of one or both agents, or lack of any effect).
