Treatment of influenza in adults & adolescents ≥13 yr when influenza virus is circulating in the community. Post-exposure prevention in adults & adolescents ≥13 yr following contact w/ a clinically diagnosed influenza case when influenza virus is circulating in the community.
Adult & adolescent ≥13 yr & weighing >40 kg Treatment 75 mg bd for 5 days. Post-exposure prevention 75 mg once daily for 10 days. Prevention during an influenza epidemic in the community 75 mg once daily for up to 6 wk. Renal impairment CrCl >30-60 mL/min Treatment 30 mg bd for 5 days. Prevention 30 mg once daily, CrCl >10-30 mL/min Treatment 30 mg once daily for 5 days. Prevention 30 mg every 2nd day. Haemodialysis patients Treatment 30 mg after each haemodialysis session for 5 days. Prevention 30 mg after every 2nd haemodialysis session. Peritoneal dialysis patients Treatment 30 mg single dose for 5 days. Prevention 30 mg once wkly.
Not a substitute for flu vaccine. Immunocompromised patients. Reports of neuropsychiatric events; monitor patients for behavioural changes. Severe renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Premature childn (<36 wk post-conceptual age).
