Why do I need this medicine?
Ceftolozane and Tazobactam are combined in this medicine.

This medicine is an antibiotic. It is used on its own or together with other antibiotics to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, abdomen, bladder, and kidneys.
How do I use this medicine?
Ceftolozane + Tazobactam is to be given intravenously (into the vein) as an infusion. It is delivered directly into the bloodstream via the blood vessel.

Your doctor or nurse will administer the injection for you.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the type and severity of your infection.

Ceftolozane + Tazobactam must be administered at regular intervals. Do not skip any doses. You must complete the entire course of this medicine. If you don't, the infection will not be properly controlled.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Ensure that you keep all appointments with your doctor so that you do not miss any doses. Your doctor also needs to regularly monitor your response to Ceftolozane + Tazobactam.

If you miss an appointment or miss an injection, alert your doctor or nurse. A replacement appointment or injection should be given as soon as possible.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not use this medicine if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to Ceftolozane, Tazobactam, or any other similar antibiotics.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have moderate to severe kidney disease.

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects.

If you are going to have certain laboratory tests (e.g. Coombs test [test used to detect antibodies in the blood that attack red blood cells]), inform your doctor that you are using Ceftolozane + Tazobactam.

Your doctor may need to perform blood tests to make sure that your kidney function is normal before you use this medicine and thereafter depending on your doctor's advice.
What side effects could I experience?
Ceftolozane + Tazobactam may cause dizziness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Other side effects include any of the following: headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, stomach wind, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, difficulty sleeping, injection site reactions, and rash.

Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
  • rashes, breathlessness, swelling of the face, eyes or mouth
  • pain or difficulty in passing urine, change in how much urine is passed, blood in the urine
  • severe watery or bloody diarrhoea accompanied by stomach pain or fever
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
  • diclofenac (medicine for pain and inflammation)
  • cimetidine (medicine that reduces stomach acid production)
  • probenecid (medicine for gout [high uric acid level in the blood])
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Ceftolozane + Tazobactam.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in the refrigerator, between 2-8°C. Protect from light.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
