Demodex is the most common microscopic skin parasite. Large numbers of Demodex mites can contribute to chronic eyelid inflammation (blepharitis). Demodex is not removed by usual daily cleansing products. The presence of eyelash dandruff, which remains at the base of the eyelash, is a strong sign of infection from Demodex mites.
BLEPHADEMODEX cleans away crusts, eyelash dandruff, impurities, mites and debris that cause eyelid inflammation. BLEPHADEMODEX improves symptoms related to Demodex infestation, such as itching, burning, dryness and inflammation of the eyelid margin, by removing Demodex mites.
The redness on the eyelid margin and the sensation of something being in the eye are reduced. Sensitive skin is soothed and regenerated by sodium hyaluronate, a natural skin moisturising agent.
BLEPHADEMODEX is formulated with Terpinen-4-ol and is well tolerated as it is free from detergents and preservatives.
BLEPHADEMODEX has a formula without perfume, and may give a fresh smell due to its ingredients. This smell disappears after a few minutes.
The colour of the wipe (lotion) may vary. This is due to natural plant extracts and is normal.
BLEPHADEMODEX is recommended: for daily hygiene of the eyelids when there is inflammation caused by large numbers of Demodex mites; for the relief of symptoms of eyelid inflammation caused by Demodex.
Mild to moderate symptoms: Use once a day, preferably in the evening for 4 weeks.
Moderate to severe symptoms: Use twice a day, morning and evening for 4 weeks.
The healthcare professional may change the use and the duration of treatment depending on how severe the symptoms are.
As with other similar treatments for blepharitis, the use of artificial tears at the same time might be recommended by the healthcare professional.
BLEPHADEMODEX can be used from 18 years old onwards.
Do not use if younger than 18 years old since no data are available.
Do not use if pregnant or breast-feeding since no data are available.
Do not use if allergic to any ingredient.
For skin use only.
Avoid getting BLEPHADEMODEX into the eye, or a burning sensation may be felt. If this happens, rinse with sterile water or saline solution.
BLEPHADEMODEX is a sterile single-use only product. Do not re-use, as this may lead to a lower cleansing effect and can increase the risk of infection.
Do not use the wipe if the sachet is opened or damaged.
Any wipe should be thrown away after use into the household waste.
Stop using BLEPHADEMODEX and contact the health care professional if symptoms get worse or if any allergic reaction is noticed.
The following side effect was reported: burning sensation after use.
If any side effects are noticed, please contact the doctor, ophthalmologist, pharmacist or the manufacturer.
