Azithromycin dihydrate
Indications/Uses
Purulent bacterial conjunctivitis. Trachoma conjunctivitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult (including the elderly), & childn from birth to 17 yr 1 drop bd (1 in the morning & 1 in the evening) into the eye(s) for 3 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, other macrolides, or medium-chain triglycerides.
Special Precautions
Only intended for ocular use. Do not inj or swallow. Discontinue treatment if allergic reaction occurs. Reports of dermatologic reactions including DRESS. Caution if no improvement w/in 3 days after start of treatment or if abnormal signs occur. Wearing of contact lenses is not recommended. Administer 15 min after another ophth medicine. May cause temporary blurred vision after ocular administration. Wait until normal vision is recovered before driving a vehicle or using any machine.
Adverse Reactions
Transient eye discomfort (itching, burning, stinging). Blurred vision, sticky eye sensation, foreign body sensation.
