Levocetirizine HCl
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis) & urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥6 yr 1 tab daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole w/ water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine HCl, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine. Patients w/ severe kidney disease requiring dialysis.
Special Precautions
Caution in patients who are unable to empty their bladder due to conditions eg, spinal cord injury or enlarged prostate. May cause seizure aggravation; caution in patients who suffer from epilepsy or are at risk of convulsions. May affect allergy test results. Contains lactose; caution in patients who have intolerance to some sugars. May cause somnolence/drowsiness, tiredness & exhaustion; caution when driving or operating machinery. Patients w/ renal impairment & those w/ both renal & hepatic impairment may be given a lower dose according to the severity of their kidney disease. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, headache, tiredness, somnolence/drowsiness.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent administration w/ alcohol or other agents acting on the brain may cause additional reductions in alertness & impairment of performance in sensitive patients.
