Nedocromil

Pregnancy and lactation.

Eye disorders: Eye irritation, stinging of eyes, burning sensation of eye, eye redness, photophobia, conjunctivitis.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Unpleasant taste.
Nervous system disorders: Headache.
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Nasal congestion, rhinitis, asthma.

Inhalation/Respiratory/Ophth: B

Avoid wearing contact lenses during therapy.

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Nedocromil, a mast cell stabiliser, inhibits the release of mediators from cells associated with hypersensitivity reactions such as eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells, monocytes and platelets. Additionally, it blocks the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and the slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis.
Pharmacokinetics:
Excretion: Via urine 70% (as unchanged drug); faeces 30% (as unchanged drug).
