Mild to moderate essential HTN, HTN w/ renal impairment, & severe HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 10 mg once daily. May be increased to 20 mg once daily after 1-2 wk.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take after breakfast.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Severe hepatic impairment. W/draw gradually, if necessary. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity. Elevation of liver enzymes, BUN, serum creatinine, total cholesterol, uric acid or triglycerides. Leucopenia, GI disturbances, dizziness, headache, facial hot flushes, feeling of warmth, conjunctival congestion, palpitation or tachycardia. Weakness, edema, pollakiuria.
Increased blood digoxin conc w/ nifedipine. Intensified action w/ other antihypertensive drugs. Concomitant use w/ cimetidine may intensify other Ca antagonists action.
