Indications/Uses
Type 2 DM in adults when dietary measures, physical exercise & wt loss alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 30 mg daily. May be increased to 60, 90 or 120 mg daily, in successive steps if blood glucose is not adequately controlled; w/ at least 1 mth interval between each dose increment. Patient whose blood glucose has not reduced after 2 wk of treatment May be increased at the end of the 2nd wk of treatment. Max: 120 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food. Swallow whole. Take at breakfast time.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to gliclazide, other sulfonylureas & sulphonamides. Type 1 diabetes. Diabetic pre-coma & coma; diabetic ketoacidosis. Treatment w/ miconazole. Severe renal or hepatic insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation.
