Indications/Uses
Adjunctive therapy in partial seizures w/ or w/o secondary generalization in adults & childn ≥3 yr. Neuropathic pain including diabetic pain, post-herpetic & trigeminal neuralgia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Epilepsy Adult & ped patient >12 yr Initial titration: 900 mg. Day 1: 300 mg once daily. Day 2: 300 mg bd. Day 3: 300 mg tds. Ped patient 3-12 yr Starting dose: 10-15 mg/kg daily in 3 equally divided doses, ≥5 yr 25-35 mg/kg daily in 3 equally divided doses, 3 to <5 yr 40 mg/kg daily in 3 equally divided doses. Max interval between doses: not >12 hr. Neuropathic pain Adult Starting dose: 900 mg daily in 3 equally divided doses. Max: 3,600 mg daily. Renal impairment: CrCl ≥80 mL/min Total daily dose: 900-3,600 mg, 50-79 mL/min Total daily dose: 600-1,800 mg, 30-49 mL/min Total daily dose: 300-900 mg, 15-29 mL/min Total daily dose: 150-600 mg, <15 mL/min Total daily dose: 150-300 mg. Patient undergoing hemodialysis Loading dose: 300-400 mg then 200-300 mg following each 4 hr of hemodialysis.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
