Indications/Uses

Management of HTN, particularly in patients who develop cough w/ ACE inhibitors. Diabetic nephropathy.

Dosage/Direction for Use

50 mg once daily, may be increased to 100 mg as single dose or in 2 divided doses. Elderly >75 yr & patient w/ moderate to severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min) or intravascular fluid depletion Initial dose of 25 mg once daily may be used.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Adverse Reactions

Dizziness & dose-related orthostatic hypotension; hyperkalaemia; resp tract disorder, back pain, GI disturbances, fatigue, & neutropenia.

Drug Interactions

Antihypertensive effects may be potentiated w/ drugs or other agents that lower BP. Additive hyperkalaemic effect w/ K supplements, K-sparing diuretics, or other drugs causing hyperkalaemia. Risk of renal impairment may be increased & hypotensive effect may be attenuated w/ NSAIDs.
