Dosage/Direction for Use

5-60 mg daily in divided doses, as single daily dose after breakfast, or as double dose on alternate days.

Special Precautions

Acute adrenal insufficiency may occur during prolonged treatment or on cessation of treatment & may be precipitated by stressful situations. Growth retardation in childn has been reported. May cause fetal harm or neonatal adrenal suppression when administered in high doses during pregnancy.

Adverse Reactions

Cushingoid symptoms (large doses). Amenorrhea, hyperhidrosis, skin thinning, ocular changes including development of cataract, mental & neurological disturbances, intracranial HTN, acute pancreatitis, aseptic necrosis of bone; thromboembolic complications; peptic ulceration; muscle weakness & wasting.
