Indications/Uses
Reduces viscosity of secretion from resp tract.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly & adolescent 14 yr 600 mg once daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Dissolve tab completely in a glass of water & take after food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Contains aspartame; patients w/ phenylketonuria.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment when bronchospasm occurs. Sulfur odor on opening the sachet does not indicate product deterioration & is due to acetylcysteine. Carefully monitor patients w/ asthma. Not to be used w/ other drugs. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions; headache; tinnitus; tachycardia; vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis, abdominal pain, nausea; urticaria, rash, angioedema, pruritus, exanthema; fever.
Drug Interactions
Not recommended to be dissolved w/ other medicinal products. Inactivates antibiotics eg, tetracycline, aminoglycosides, penicillin. May potentiate vasodilatory effect of nitroglycerine. Decreased effect w/ activated charcoal.
