Indications/Uses
Localized inflammatory, pruritic & allergic disorders of the skin & mucosa: Insect bite reactions, photodermatitis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, eczematous dermatitis, lichen planus, prurigo nodularis, pretibial myxedema, necrobiosis lipoidica, neurodermatitis, intertriginous psoriasis, nummular eczema, discoid lupus erythematosus, exfoliative dermatitis, pruritus ani et vulvae, lichen simplex chronicus, intertrigo, otitis externa & stasis dermatitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a small amount lightly to affected skin bid-tid w/ gentle but thorough massage. Gradually decrease dose when condition is under control.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not intended for ophth use. May produce atrophy of the skin w/ prolonged use; may occur w/ short-term use when used on the face. Risk of significant systemic absorption when applied over large areas of body, even when occlusion is not used. Use w/ caution on lesions close to the eye. Increased percutaneous absorption w/ occlusive dressing. Evaluate for evidence of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression in patients (particularly childn) receiving large dose applied to a large surface area or under an occlusive dressing. Reduce dose or gradually discontinue if HPA axis suppression is noted. Institute appropriate antibacterial, antiviral or antifungal agent in the presence of infection. Discontinue use until infection has been adequately controlled if favourable response does not occur promptly. Not to be used extensively on pregnant patients, in large amounts or for prolonged periods of time, especially for 1st 3 mth of pregnancy. Limit administration to childn to a short period of time & to smallest amount compatible w/ an effective therapeutic regimen.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria.
