HTN Initially 5 mg daily, up to a max of 20 mg daily. Usual maintenance dose: 5-10 mg daily. Angina pectoris 5 mg daily, may be increased to 10 mg daily if necessary. Impaired hepatic function & elderly Initially 2.5 mg daily.
May be taken with or without food: Take in the morning either always w/o food or w/ a light meal (eg, orange juice, bread & cereal). Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
May precipitate significant hypotension in susceptible individuals which may result to myocardial ischemia. W/draw if ischemic pain occurs or existing pain worsens after initiating treatment or if cardiogenic shock develops. Concomitant administration w/ grapefruit juice. Pregnancy. Elderly.
