Panadol Extra Dosage & Drug Information

Indications/Uses

Analgesic & antipyretic. Treatment of mild to moderate pain & relief of fever including headache, migraine, muscle ache, dysmenorrhoea, musculoskeletal & OA pain, fever & pain after vaccinations, pain after dental procedure/tooth extraction, toothache, symptomatic relief colds, flu & sore throat.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult, elderly & childn ≥12 yr 1 or 2 tab 4-6 hrly. Max: 8 tab/24 hr.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Discontinue use if severe skin reactions occur. Avoid caffeine-containing products. Severe infection; underwt or malnourished; patients w/ alcohol dependence. High BP, glaucoma, overactive bladder syndrome. Not to be used w/ other paracetamol-containing drugs. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 yr.

Adverse Reactions

Skin rash or peeling, itching, breathing problems, swelling of lips, tongue, throat or face, mouth ulcers, bruising or bleeding.

Drug Interactions

Increased risk of bleeding w/ warfarin & other coumarins (prolonged daily use). Increased lithium elimination from the body by caffeine.
