Gamexa: Dosing, Side Effect & Interaction

Indications/Uses

Prevention of skeletal related events in patients w/ advanced malignancies involving bone. Treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IV infusion 4 mg/100 mL every 3-4 wk.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to zoledronic or other bisphosphonates. Pregnancy & breast feeding women.

Special Precautions

Assess patients for adequate hydration prior to administration. Monitor albumin-corrected serum levels of Ca, phosphate & Mg & serum creatinine after initiation of therapy. Osteonecrosis of the jaw. Renal & hepatic impairment.

Adverse Reactions

Anaphylactic reaction, ocular adverse events, osteonecrosis of the jaw, atypical femoral fracture, atrial fibrillation, renal impairment, acute phase reaction, & hypocalcemia.
