Terbinafine
Indications/Uses
Treatment of fungal infections of groin, skin (ringworm), feet (athlete's foot), toe & finger nails.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Fungal infection of the groin, skin & feet 250 mg once daily for 2-4 wk. Fungal infection of the fingernails 250 mg once daily for 6 wk. Fungal infection of the toenails 250 mg once daily for 12 wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Impaired liver or kidney function. Lactation. Childn.
Special Precautions
Autoimmune disease; liver disease; psoriasis, SLE. Pregnancy. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Loss of appetite, feeling of fullness, feeling sick, indigestion, mild stomach pain, diarrhoea, arthralgia, myalgia, headache.
Drug Interactions
Rifampicin, cimetidine, TCAs, SSRIs, MAOIs, amiodarone, β-blockers, ciclosporin, tolbutamine, terfenadine, triazolam, fluconazole, ketoconazole, digoxin, caffeine. Breakthrough bleeding & irregular periods w/ OCs.
