Duodenal, gastric ulcer & reflux esophagitis; long-term management of GERD (GERD maintenance); symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe GERD (symptomatic GERD); Zollinger-Ellison syndrome; in combination w/ appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of H. pylori in patients w/ PUD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderlyDuodenal, gastric ulcer & reflux esophagitis 10 mg once daily for 6 wk (for duodenal ulcer) or 8 wk (for gastric ulcer or reflux esophagitis). May be increased up to 20 mg once daily. GERD maintenance 10 mg or 20 mg once daily. Symptomatic GERD 10 mg once daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Initially 60-100 mg once daily or 60 mg bd. Eradication ofH. pylori 20 mg bd w/ clarithromycin 500 mg bd & amoxicillin 1 g bd for 7 days; or 10 mg bd w/ clarithromycin 200 mg bd & amoxicillin 750 mg bd for 7 days. Alternatively, 10 mg bd w/ metronidazole 250 mg bd & amoxicillin 750 mg bd for 7 days. Renal & hepatic impairment No dosage adjustment is necessary.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to rabeprazole Na, substituted benzimidazoles. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Exclude possibility of malignancy prior to commencing treatment. Severe hepatic dysfunction. Symptomatic or asymptomatic hypomagnesemia. Regular monitoring in long-term use. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn.
