Hypersensitivity. Chicken pox, shingles or measles. History of TB, epilepsy, mental illness, glaucoma, HTN, osteoporosis, stomach or duodenal ulcers, hypothyroidism.
Special Precautions
Do not withdraw abruptly as it may cause fever, joint & muscle pain, mood changes, loss of wt, low hormone levels & BP. Myasthenia gravis; diverticulitis; liver, kidney, heart disease. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Low hormone levels; increased risk of infections including worsening of TB; wasting of muscles, osteoporosis; water retention; high BP; changes in blood chemistry due to loss of K; mood changes, depression, sleep problems, worsening of epilepsy or schizophrenia; glaucoma, cataract, thinning of the cornea or sclera. Serious heart complications; bruising, poor wound healing, acne, prominent veins; blood clot, allergic reactions, blood disorders.
