Symptomatic relief of GI disorders eg, heartburn, dyspepsia, acid reflux. Nausea & vomiting associated w/ GI disorders, certain drugs, migraine, after surgery, radiotherapy & chemotherapy. Stimulates gastric emptying during radiographic examinations, to facilitate intubation of small bowel & in management of aspiration syndromes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent 15-19 yr, ≥60 kg 10 mg tds; 30-59 kg 5 mg tds. Diagnostic procedureAdult >20 yr 10-20 mg. Adolescent 15-19 yr 10 mg. Given as single dose 5-10 min before the exam.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals.
Special Precautions
Muscle disorders; epilepsy; GI bleeding, perforation, obstruction or w/in 3-4 days after surgery; phaeochromocytoma; severe liver or kidney disease; Parkinson's disease; porphyria. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn <15 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Extrapyramidal or parkinsonian effects, tardive dyskinesia, facial spasms, difficulty in speaking, dystonia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, dizziness, weakness, trouble in sleeping, headache, nervousness, agitation, restlessness, irritability, panic, restless leg syndrome, hypotension, HTN, racing heartbeat, GI or GUT disorders, swelling, skin rash, hematologic disturbances.
