Loperamide HCl

Indications/Uses

Symptomatic control of diarrhoea.

Dosage/Direction for Use

1st dose: Adult 4 mg. Childn 6-12 yr 2 mg. Subsequently after each loose stool: Adult & childn ≥9 yr 2 mg. Childn 6-8 yr 1 mg. Max daily dose: Adult 16 mg. Childn 9-12 yr 6 mg, 6-8 yr 4 mg, 2-5 yr 1 mg tds.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

When inhibition of peristalsis is to be avoided; hepatic impairment.

Special Precautions

Not for infant <2 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Abdominal pain, GI disturbances, constipation, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, rash.
