Hyoscine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness (unpleasant feeling when you're travelling) in adults and children at least 10 years old.
This medicine may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting after undergoing surgery.
Apply Hyoscine patch on your skin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not apply more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Do not apply the patch on broken skin. Do not cut the patch. The release pattern of the medicine will be affected if you cut the patch. Do not apply more than one patch at a time. Do not use it for a longer period than instructed by your doctor.
Instructions for application:
- Remove the patch from the protective foil pouch and peel away half of the liner. Do not touch the sticky side with your fingers.
- Apply the patch to a clean, dry, and hairless area. Apply the patch behind your ear. Make sure that the area of the skin is not oily, cut, blistered, or irritated. The skin should be free of any powder, creams, or lotions.
- Peel away the other half of the liner. Press firmly on the skin to ensure that the patch stays in place.
- If you are using the patch to prevent motion sickness, 1 patch must be applied in the evening or at least 4 hours before your travel and can be left behind your ear for up to 72 hours. However, if your journey is longer than 72 hours, replace the patch after 72 hours then apply a new patch behind the other ear. Remove your patch once your trip is over.
- If you are using the patch to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery, apply 1 patch the evening before your operation and remove it 24 hours after the procedure.
- If the patch falls off, apply a new patch behind the other ear and change the patch at the usual scheduled time. If the sides of the patch lift up, use plaster or bandage to secure it to your skin.
- Throw away the used patch by folding the sticky sides together, put it back in the empty pouch, and place it in a rubbish bin. Do not throw it into the toilet bowl. Wash your hands after throwing the used patch.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose to make up for a missed dose.
