Indications/Uses
Early stages of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men 18-41 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole w/ water. Do not crush/divide.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Current treatment w/ finasteride or dutasteride for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Women. Childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Finasteride decreases PSA levels. Risk of breast cancer. Increased risk of high-grade prostate cancer. Not approved for the prevention of prostate cancer. Reports of mood alterations including depressed mood, depression &, less frequently, suicidal ideation. Caution in patients w/ lactose intolerance. Crushed or broken tab should not be touched by women who are or may potentially be pregnant.
Adverse Reactions
Uncommon: Decreased sex drive; depression; difficulty having an erection; problems w/ ejaculation eg, decreased amount of semen released.
